La langue\, comme un jardin\, et tout d’abord une clôture e t sa terre et faite des sédiments des générations passées. Son parfum emba ume les morts et les vivants \; elle est à la fois le dessin et la quintes sence de l’âme d’un peuple dans le miroir du temps. À partir de cette cons tatation l’artiste tunisien Nacer Khemir expose ses œuvres plastiques aux couleurs vives\, comme pour conjurer l’absence de couleurs dans le désert. Lorsqu’un nomade déroule son tapis sur le sable c’est un jardin qu’il dér oule\, comme un « Tapis du souvenir »\, titre d’une toile de Paul Klee. C’ est en travaillant les 60 noms de l’amour dans la langue arabe que l’artis te a réalisé ses œuvres entre mantras\, litanie de couleurs\, écritures\, traces et signes\, comme pour dire avec Cioran : « On n’habite pas un pays \, on habite une langue ».

u cinéma\, de la peinture à la sculpture\, de la calligraphie à l'\;écr
iture\, Nacer Khemir a projeté un pont entre deux rives\, entre le Nord et
le Sud\, l’Orient et l'\;Occident. Son œuvre littéraire est constituée
d'\;une douzaine d’écrits et continue sans cesse de s'\;accroître.
Depuis L'\;Histoire du Pays du Bon Dieu\, il a réalisé plusieurs longs-
métrages. En 1984 il gagne avec Les Baliseurs du Désert le Grand prix du F
estival des Trois Continents à Nantes\, le Prix de la première œuvre au Fe
stival de Carthage\, la Palme d'\;or du festival de Valence et le Prix
de la critique internationale de la Mostra de Venise. En 2017\, le film es
t restauré par la Cinémathèque Royale de Belgique et est sélectionné pour
faire partie des films classiques mondiaux à la Mostra de Venise 2017 dans
la section Venezia Classici. Il remporte avec le Collier Perdu de la Colo
mbe le Prix spécial du jury à Locarno\, le Grand prix 1991 du Festival de
Belfort\, le Prix spécial du jury du Festival Francophone de Saint-Martin.
Il tourne aussi en 1991 À la Recherche des Mille et Une Nuits. En 2005 il
réalise Bab'\;Aziz\, Le Prince Qui Contemplait Son Âme. Ce film a reçu
le Dagger d’Or au Muscat Film Festival au Sultanat d’Oman et le Prix Henr
y Langlois de la Cinémathèque Française. En 2007 il est devant la caméra d
u metteur en scène suisse Bruno Moll avec qui il co-écrit Voyage à Tunis.
Et en 2008 il écrit et réalise un moyen métrage L’Alphabet de Ma Mère pour
le Festival de Jeonju en Corée du Sud. En 2010\, il produit et réalise En
Passant\, avec André Miquel. En 2011 il co-produit et réalise Shéhérazade
\, ou la Parole Contre la Mort. En 2012 il produit et réalise Looking for
Muhyiddin. En 2013 il produit et réalise Yasmina et les 60 noms de l'\;
amour. En 2014 il produit et réalise Par où Commence? Qui a eu le prix du
meilleur film tunisien au Festival des Réalisateur Tunisiens 2015. En 2016
il produit\, écrit et réalise un court-métrage\, Conférence de Presse pou
r le cinquantenaire des Journées Cinématographiques de Carthage. En 2017 i
l écrit\, réalise et produit un long métrage de fiction\, Whispering Sands
\, qui est en 2017 dans la sélection officiel de Dubai International Film
Festival\,
\net la sélection officiel de la Mostra de Valencia 2018
et qui a reçu le Best Film Award au New Delhi International Film Festival.
En 2020\, il produit et réalise un long métrage docu-fiction Loving Walla
da invité au Maghreb des Films en France et à la Mostra de Valencia en Esp
agne. Les films de Nacer Khemir fouillent les mythes pour mieux interroger
l'\;avenir. Nacer Khemir a sorti un livre-essai\, Le Livre Des Marges\
, autour de son expérience de cinéaste\, publié en 2019. Enfin\, il vient
de finir l’écriture de son dernier livre L’Amour Selon Nacer Khemir\, sort
ie en Mars 2021.

Through cinema\, painting and sculpture\, not to mention calligraphy\, wri
ting and story telling\, Nacer Khemir has thrown bridges between shores\,
North and South\, Occident and Orient. His literary work comprises a dozen
publications and his production is still growing. Since he directed “The
Story of the Land of God”\, which was broadcasted on the French second cha
nnel in 1975\, he has directed many other feature films. In 1984\, he won
the first award at the Film Festival of the Three Continents\, in Nantes\,
France for his movie “The Wanderers of the Desert”. He also won the “Firs
t Film Award” at the Festival of Carthage JCC\, Tunisia\, and the Golden\nPalm leaf at the Film Festival of Valencia\, Spain. and the Prize of
the International Critic’s award at the Mostra di Venezia. In 2017 the fi
lm is digitalized by the Cinémathèque Royale de Belgique and was selected
as one of the world classic films in the Mostra de Venizia 2017 in the sec
tion Venezia Classici. In 1991\, his movie “The Dove’s Lost Necklace” won
the Jury’s Special Award at the Locarno Film Festival\, Italy and the Firs
t Award at the Belfort Fovie Festival\, France as well the Jury’s Special
Award at the Festival of French-Speaking Films at St-Martin. In 1991\, he
directed\, for the French third channel\, “In Search of the Arabian Nights
”. In 2005\, he directed “Bab Aziz\, The Prince Who Contemplated His Soul”
. The film won the Golden Dagger in Muscat Film Festival. In 2007\, Nacer
Khemir participated\, but this time in front of the camera\, in the film o
f the Swiss director Bruno Moll . “Voyage à Tunis” \, about the journey of
Paul Klee to Tunisia in 1914 and its influence on his painting. In 2008 N
