Jordanian filmmaker wins Orizzonti award for best director at Venice film festival

Jordan times : Jordanian filmmaker Naji Abu Nowar won the Orizzonti Award for Best Director for his film “Theeb” on Saturday at the 71st Venice Film Festival, according to the festival’s official Twitter page.
The 100-minute narrative feature is set in 1916 in a far-flung corner of the Ottoman Empire during the Great Arab revolt, a period of upheaval which saw bedouin livelihoods and culture threatened by a newly built pilgrim railway which ran from Damascus to Medina, according to Agence France-Presse.
